The Heat is on in this vibrant party city

Miami is an iconic city infamous for its beautiful beaches, vibrant nightlife, and great restaurants all sprinkled with a Caribbean and Latino vibe. Probably best known for spring break, which occurs between March and Early April, which is definitely the best time to experience the crazy party scene while taking in the heat. Here’s a list of some things that are a must see on your next trip to Miami Beach.

#10 South Beach, Miami Lummus Park

The quintessential Miami experience…South Beach of course. Soak up the sun on one of Americas most beautiful beaches and let that Miami heat consume you. Only one road away from all the exciting shops and bars on Ocean Drive, there’s always something going on. Take a walk through Lummus park where you’ll find people weightlifting, bike riding, and flipping tires (yes, giant tires).  And when you get tired of sweating take a dip in the calm fluorescent blue waters that look exactly as you pictured. Bonus points if you go during spring break and enter the party section filled with insane debauchery and out of control partying.

#9 Licoln Road Mall

It wouldn’t be the glamorous Miami you were picturing without some shopping malls. Treat yourself to some high end fashion shopping in the Lincoln Road mall, just a few blocks away from South beach. With tons of shops and world class restaurants, it’s easy to lose track of time here.  Experience the bold nightlife scene in style with some fresh duds from some of the biggest and well known brand name stores. Or ya know just go look around. Might not be a good idea to break the bank the first day in Miami.

Little Havana

In downtown Miami you can go experience a little slice of Cuban culture in Little Havana. The authentic influence gives off an amazing Caribbean vibe you almost forget your still in the US. With all its amazing food, historic memorials, tasty beverages, and Hispanic influences on style and music its definitely a place you can enjoy for some time. Walk by Domino Park to see how serious the old timers are about their domino games and take a few moments to appreciate the murals embedded with Cuban history. That’s also the most Cuban I’ll every look. #MiamAF

#7 Eat a Cuban Sandwich

I know it seems ridiculous to put eating a sandwich on a Top Ten Things to Do list but you’ll understand if you try it. Go to an area in Little Havana on 8th street (better known as Calle ocho) that has a heavy influence from Cuban culture and that’s where you’ll find the best Cuban delicacies . Plus there’s chickens. Colorfully decorated and dazzlingly expressive Hispanic chickens. If you’re looking to taste more of Miami’s amazing foods, check out this post.

#6 Drink a Mojito

Well while you’re in the area you might as well have a delicious beverage…a beverage that also happens to be the epitome of a Caribbean drink.  Just about any bar or restaurant in Calle Ocho will make up a delectable Mojito to cool down from the heat. Let the minty citrus flavors relax your mind as you vibe with the always present and elegantly paced Salsa music. Must be 21 and older to enjoy.

#5  Go on an Everglades Air-boat Tour

For All you outdoorsy adventure types out there, there’s something special for you too. The Everglades is a vast swamp land and wildlife preserved area that stretches miles across Florida. Pick from a number of different vendors on South Beach to get a discounted price including a free show, air-boat tour, and a ride to and from your hotel downtown. There’s lots of wild alligators, turtles, birds, and other reptiles to witness while enjoying the nice breeze through the beautiful marshland. And, if your into it, try some tasty gator jerky from the gift shop on your way out. Tastes like…chicken.

#4 Ocean Drive

Pretty much the place to be on South Beach, this strip is right next to the beach and is lined with dozens of shops, bars, restaurants, and more. Restaurants can be a bit pricey here but there almost always some kind of happy hour deals and drink specials. With Spanish music and hip hop blasting from every corner, its hard not to feel the excitement all around you. Not to mention There’s the infamous Colony Hotel between 7th and 8th street. It would of felt wrong to not pay homage to one of the greatest American films ever made (Scar Face 1983). #RIPTonyMontana.

#3 Mangoes Tropical Cafe

Maybe I’m just a little biased, but No trip to Miami should exclude a trip to Mangoes Tropical Cafe. You might as well just pack up and go back home really. Located right on Ocean Drive, it offers a live performance of exotic dancers and tons of samba and salsa music. Grab yourself a nice cold piña colada and the enjoy the show till the late AM. They also have two dance floors where you can dance salsa or a more urban hip hop/rap scene in the upstairs area. Break dawn the classic Miami way.

#2 Nightlife

Miami

The fun doesn’t stop just because the sun goes down in Miami, it actually intensifies. With an overwhelming option of things to do, the night ends whenever your ready to call it quits. Some of the biggest and most lavish clubs include Liv, Story, and Set. Or if you feel like dressing down and not paying $30 for a drink there’s tons of smaller bars which include Wet Willies, Bodega, and of course Mangoes Tropical Cafe. With headline artists playing everyday of the week, every night can be an exciting night out. And if your lucky to run into people selling tickets to an All-you-can-eat, All-you-can-drink Boat party I would definitely recommend taking it. Sounds super sketch at first but MiamiSeaParty is def a good time. A night out can be expensive so pace yourself and your wallet.

#1 Wynwood Art Walls

Another Awesome area in Downtown Miami, Wynwood has a unique artistic vibe that is hard to find anywhere else. Every building and wall is completely filled with astounding art and colorful designs. Even walking around the streets in search of inspiring artwork can consume a whole day of pure euphoria. Stop by the Gallery and check out even more sick paintings and sculptures and take some of that revolutionary style into perspective. A completely underrated area in my opinion, Wynwood even has a spectacular nightlife when you get tired of South Beach’s boogie reputation. For sightseeing and a chill going out vibe, I definitely wouldn’t pass this place up. For even more inspirational street art, check out this post.
