2021 Life Lessons We learned

The time is upon is, another opportunity to reflect on the 2022 life lessons we learned. This year really dragged on, and felt like 3 years in itself. We were fortunate to have many new experiences, which reinforced our ideas on how to slow down time. 2022 was a tumultuous 365 days filled with drastic highs and lows but overall pretty good. Here’s what the universe taught us in 2022.

Failing to plan is Planning to Fail

The secret to having a perfect trip is to meticulously research everything in advance. Although the wayward wanderers may claim going with the flow is the best way to travel, there are a few contentions I have with this form of thought. Flexible schedules are great, but I often missed doing certain activities from a lack of planning. It’s better to overpack an itinerary than miss something you wanted to do.

Small Consistent Efforts Make Big Impacts

Sometimes it’s hard putting in the work to accomplish a goal. Often times the results aren’t seen until many months of consistent effort has been put in. From exercising to learning a language, it is important to remain consistent despite the demoralizing feeling from slow results. Alter your perception to long-term gratification to keep your resolve strong.

Maintain a Focused Intent

Distractions are around every corner in this day and age. Without maintaining a focused intent on your goals, they might easily slip away. Maintain mental clarity in pursuing desires to keep “fate” from dragging you around aimlessly. Remain assertive with the things you want and don’t let others sway your opinions towards its attainment.

True Love is Constant Communication

I was fortunate to marry the love of my life this year, and learned a lot about the infinite bond. People have different points of view, so conflicts will always arise. What’s important is upholding the relationship’s harmony with constant communication. Be willing to listen with empathy to understand and compromise with a win-win solution.

This year was intense, with the 2022 life lessons aiding in our personal development immensely. We completed a travel bucket list before our 30th birthday, had some awesome adventures in Puerto Rico, rode a mechanical bull in Nashville, swam with whale sharks in Atlanta Georgia, traveled to various cities in France, celebrated the legendary Oktoberfest in Germany, married my best friend & travel buddy, did a solo trip to Detroit, became landlords, went scuba diving & saw another world wonder in Mexico, did a helicopter tour of NYC, ate a bunch of delicious food, and went sky diving.

It’s going to be difficult to top, but I think next year has the potential to keep up the momentum. There’s already a few trips on the horizon plus the added goal of visiting all 7 of the world’s natural wonders so stay tuned! Cheers to wherever you are in the world and to making 2023 another great one. As always thanks for reading and keep leveling up!
