The Magnificent Waterfalls of the North-East

Niagara Falls is one of the largest waterfalls in the World. It lies on the international border between the United States’ New York and Ontario, Canada. I can attest with unbiased certainty that the Canada side of the falls is the greater side. With a plethora of fun activities and superior viewing angles, Ontario is the place to focus all your energy. Here’s my experience at Niagara Falls and ten more fun things to do in Ontario. 10. Clifton Hill

Clifton Hill is the major touristy area right by Niagara Falls. The streets are filled with every type of carnival and boardwalk attraction imaginable. You can take old-timey photos, play games, ride go-karts, and walk through haunted houses. Nightmare’s Fear Factory is one of the most impressive haunted houses in the western hemisphere. Traverse through multiple rooms with wicked traps all in pitch darkness. Face your fears and avoid chickening out until the end!

9. Niagara Falls SkyWheel

While you’re in Clifton Hill, ride up to the top of the giant 170ft tall Ferris wheel for some great views. Consider going at night time to catch a vibrant light show on the waterfalls. You may even spot fireworks from the top during the summer months! There is usually a long line, so be prepared to wait for a bit.

8. Niagara Falls Parks Butterfly Conservatory

Butterflies are arguably the least intrusive and repulsive of the insect kingdom. My disdain for bugs aside, The Butterfly Conservatory is a cool experience. Enter the tropical biosphere to be surrounded by thousands of colorful butterflies as they flutter around you. Watch your step! After you can meander through the diverse horticulture of the Botanical Gardens. There are plenty of great spots for photos.

7. Fallsview Casino Resort

Try your luck at the Fallsview Casino, just a short walk away from Niagara Falls. It’s a great nightlife spot for breaking dawn. If you’re not into gambling, you can still walk around the resort’s shops and restaurants. “The Famous” is an excellent dinner for a traditional Canadian breakfast. Make sure to try the authentic maple syrup!

6. Poutine in Niagara Falls

Food is the gift of life. And Canada’s contribution to the World is definitely Poutine. A french-fry filled box topped off with cheese curds and slathered in gravy. Of course there are a variety of awesome flavors to try at Smoke’s Poutinerie. Enjoy delectable Canadian cuisine at all hours of the night!

5. Skylon Tower

My affinity for tall towers knows no bounds. Skylon tower is one of the best out there thanks to its fantastic view of Niagara Falls. Take a trip to the observation deck to get the highest viewing angle of the magnificent cascades. Reserve a table at the elegant Revolving Dining Room for a unique dining experience. A bit pricey but could be nice for a special occasion.

4. Whirlpool Aero Car

Another exciting phenomenon to witness is the Niagara whirlpool in an antique cable car. This aero-car suspended over the swirling whitewater rapids is a thrilling experience. The car technically crosses the US-Canadian border during the excursion to the other side. Stare deep into the aqueous abyss as you go over the whirlpool. Don’t drop your phone!

3. Journey Behind the Falls

The best part of visiting Ontario, Canada is the various perspectives of Niagara Falls. Journey Behind the Falls takes you on an exclusive tour of the caverns behind the great waterfalls. Grab a poncho and head straight to the heart of Horseshoe Falls. Feel the engulfing vibration as you peer through the viewing portals, directly at the falling water.

2. Maid of the Mist or Horn Blower

Technically the Maid of the Mist Boat ride leaves from the New York side. But its Canadian neighbor, The Hornblower, offers the same tour.  Head towards the center of Niagara Falls on a voyage like none other. As you approach the Raging waters, a shroud of mist will engulf you as the sound of the falls intensifies. Once you’re in the center you’ll be surrounded by the vibrations of the thunderous waterfall.  The stormy gusts of wind will show its force as you gaze into the tempest around you. Expect to get a little wet.

1. Niagara Falls

The Majestic Niagara Falls is truly a force of nature. The magnitude of water flowing through at every second is incomprehensible. Ontario is bountiful in both fun activities and inspiring perspectives to view Niagara Falls. These crashing waters account for about one-fifth of the world’s fresh water supply. Standing next to the falls fills your soul with a roaring vibration. There’s no doubt why its considered one of the World’s most iconic natural wonders. I highly recommend experiencing it for yourself one day. Until then, keep leveling up.
