Moussaka is the beloved national dish that embodies the comfort and indulgence of Greek food. It is essentially a casserole with layers of tender eggplant, minced meat, and creamy béchamel sauce harmonizing to create a symphony of flavors. You can find it at most restaurants, just keep in mind this hearty classic can be quite filling.

3. Souvlaki – The Best Street Greek Food

Nothing expresses the essence of Greek street food more than the grilled perfection of souvlaki. Souvlaki includes pieces of grilled meats like chicken, pork, or beef (sometimes vegetables too) eaten directly off a skewer. It is a quick, delicious meal that’s perfect for any time of day. One of our favorite restaurants with super cheap options is Street Souvlaki in Athens.
